Charity Supports Clan Academy Investment in Rink Dividers

The Glasgow Clan Ice Futures Charity has provided a significant portion of the funding required to allow the Corum Clan Academy to purchase some key new equipment to improve the learning and development experience for its young players.

The Academy needed to be able to effectively segment the ice pad to provide cross-ice game opportunities for the youngest age-groups, and managed to source and import the 60 metres of robust foam dividers that allow this to happen.

One of the Charity’s stated objectives is to help fund equipment that allows participation and the Trustees were delighted to be able to support this project.

‘This represented our largest spend so far’, said Academy Chair Kevin McCoskrie. ‘The Academy had raised most of the funds required, but the assistance from the Charity allowed us to push the project over the line and get the product shipped in from our supplier in Poland.

‘Some of our players have had the chance to enjoy cross-ice events at other Clubs recently, and this investment allows us to stage events here in Braehead and return the invitation.

‘As well as their use in cross-ice events, the dividers will be invaluable to our coaches on practice nights, allowing them to segment zones on the ice and develop more varied and engaging drill plans.’

Kevin also recognised the individual contributions that enable the Charity to help in cases like this.

‘The Charity requires donations to allow it to provide this kind of support and the Academy would like to express thanks to all the Glasgow Clan fans, and others, who have generously donated over recent months and are allowing the Charity to do good work like this to support local kids enjoying the sport they love.’
